As an Actor
Mammootty- arguably the most popular and gifted actor Indian cinem has ever produced. He stepped in to the world of cinema in the beginning of 1970s with M T’s Devalokam (which unfortunately was not released) He then played smaller roles in a few movies before his actual acting talent was noticed in filims like Vikanudu Swapnangal by M T and Mela, Yavanika by K G George. With Joshy’s Newdelhi Superstar Mammootty was born.
One thing that sets Mammootty apart his contemperory is that from the begining itself he has been able to handle both art house cinemas and commercial pet builers with ease.
Mammootty’s acting ablities were well utilised by greats like MT, Bharathan, KG George .etc. Later in internationally acclaimed directors like Adoor Gopalakrisnan, T V Chandran etc took Mammootty to the acting careers peak.
He has been waited by international critics as the true great actor-having one four national awards for the best actor even while his commercial filims-the latest few releases having grossed over Rs. 50 crore.
The social committment of the person mammootty is evident from the fact that he is involved in more than half a dozen charitable projects aimed at helping the needy people.
All these qualities prompted the govt. of India to award him two great civilian owners- Padmashree and Bharath Awards. This giant meteor of Indian cinema has still several pinacles of glory to achive best wishes from all Mammootty fans.
