Palunk

As Madhavan in Kazhcha, Murugan in Karuthapakshikal and Monichan in Palunku, he Padmasree Mammootty performed and conveyed themes of social importance. The expressions that flashes through his face are not expressable with mere words , they are not just acting outs of Mommootty¸but are performances getting in to the skin of Madavan,Murugan, Monichan.
With the God gifted flexibility in performing various characters and the keenness that he shows in performance makes him an extra ordinary actor. This extra ordinary performance and his ……….in the roles he acts gives a highlight to the various social problems existing in the ‘dog eat dog’ world of today.
The Monichan in Palunku is an ordinary man, who aspires for what an ordinary man dream for and seeks a life of luxury, a life of pleasures. It is only very late that the man of today realizes that, what they hang after are just mirages. Monichan in the beginning is an innocent man, loving father, as with time he turns corrupted and busy and losing his family to the end. The Monichan has made us to think deeply on what exactly the present selfish, pleasure seeking world is, with no importance to human values; are just ‘jackal in a sheep’s skin’.
The expressions of Mammootty when he lets off the desire to learn English, the feeling of self respect on being able to understand English by just being a “3rd standard gradual”, the guilty face he holds and hides to his wife, the braveness to do corruptions, but the fear bubbling out on seeing police are not just performance but extra ordinary that stays in the mind of viewers everlong as he is one among the common.
